Sync your Google Calendar with your iPhone
As you know, I recently got an iPhone – which I have been loving.
I wanted a way to synchronize my iPhone calendar with my Google Calendar, and I found a way to do it!
Step One: NuevaSync
NuevaSync takes your Google Calendar and makes it available through Exchange – which is the easiest way to sync a calendar on the iPhone. It’s really easy to set up (just go to the website and follow the directions).
Once you have registered and activated your account, go to the dashboard. Change the “Calendar” option and update it with your Gmail information. This can all be done from your phone or the computer.
Step Two: iPhone
Go to your Settings and enter the “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” section.
- Click “Add Account”
- Choose “Microsoft Exchange”
- Under “Email”, enter the Gmail account you registered on NuevaSync.
- The username is your NuevaSync username.
- The password your NuevaSync password.
- Description can be left blank, I called it “Calendar Sync”
- Click “Next”.
- After it loads, there will be a field called “Server”. Enter “www.nuevasync.com” as the value.
- Click “Next”.
- On the next page, turn off “Mail” and “Contacts”.
- Click “Save”
Ta-da!
The coolest part about it is that when you update Google Calendars, it immediately updates your phone. When you update the Calendar on your phone, it immediately updates Google Calendars.
I didn’t come up with this myself, you can view the original instructions I found here.

I finally joined a gym: The Boxing Club
I finally took the plunge and joined a gym – but not just any gym! Since I’m interested in Martial Arts and similar styles of fighting (boxing, kickboxing, etc.) I decided on the Boxing Club because they not only offer a full gym but also intense boxing, kickboxing, yoga and pilates classes. I’ve only taken two classes so far, but I can already feel a difference!
My goal right now is just to be able to get through a whole class at 100%. I can’t even quite make it through yet. Once I am back into relative shape, I want to actually try to get good at the various sports.
I am so excited to actually get in shape! I am dedicated for a whole year, so I really think it’s going to happen.

I can see my house from here! [Google]
So I just noticed that Google Maps updated their satellite images changed, as well as now having covered a huge part of San Diego for street view. Granted, the last time I checked was well over 6 months ago so this update may not be as recent as I think it is.

Having a recession-proof job… Check!
So I ran across a list of recession-proof jobs. Seeing as how I work on computers (or more specifically, the internet) I seem to be fairly secure.
Trying to pick a career? Some of the top jobs were:
- Engineer
- Computers/High Technology
- Entertainment
- Medical (Nurse, Pharmacist, Physical Therapist, etc)
The cool thing about these jobs is that if you do well, they pay well. Read the whole list here.
Here’s a cool book you might buy, written by a guy who knows more about this than me!

Another online diet tracker
A good friend of mine is getting married in December. What a great motivator for me to get in shape!
I’ve been experimenting different ways for me to actually get serious about losing some pounds before the December 20th (the wedding date). I recently found a new diet and exercise tracker called Gyminee, so I am trying that one out.
See what you think for yourself at Gyminee.com
